Will most people be opting for live or video moderation this year?

I have found it difficult to get high quality filming done within lessons with a largeish group of 28 and such a wide array of ability. I have 2 mod days booked in on the calendar where I am hoping to get the baulk of this done. Any tips?

Practice mod days in a cluster of local school works really well, it serves good practice for the students but also the staff – for filming and logistics! Helped us a lot

We’re international so have to film.

We have the opposite issue in that small cohort sizes make filming of some sports challenging. Suggest you request a moderation day still but only call required participants for each aspect of the day. e.g – football 9am – 10 am only footballers attend.

Filming advice – invest in a decent camera and a tripod.

Is it me or has the grade calculator changed? I cannot remember where I heard this but have the following calculations to work out a grade based on changes this year:

    Component 1 – 1.2 (36%) Component 2 – 1.029 (24%) Component 3 – 1.286 (30%) Component 4 – 1.5 (10%)

International teachers – I’m after some guidance for the filming requirements of practical sports this year. Do they still require 1 continuous stream? Ideas on length of video for each student/sport etc. Any advice/guidance more than welcome!

    Thanks,

    Louis

    Hi all,

International school here, having to film all our activities.

Does anyone have any ideas how to show the progressive ‘skills’ for athletics.

For example for jumps the skills to show are run up, take off, flight and landing. I’m unsure how to show the skill in isolation and then in progressively harder drills.

Any help greatly appreciated, filming all activities with a small group on an island that hasn’t done a lot of sport since the pandemic is a logistical nightmare!

    Thanks 🙂

We have just planned some 2-3 progressive practices related to each skill in the isolated skills section.

There is an example video released by Edexcel for a sprinter which can help with ideas from a training event in Nov’20 on C3 and C4. It provided some useful examples but the link I have to the resources has now expired. Not sure if the modules are located on the Pearson site as I couldn’t see them.

Probably the most important tip would be to invest in a good quality camera if you are going to film yourself. The pandemic is over do you guys still have to record yourself?.
